Kurumba Village is suggesting an 'a la carte' menu started on 28th June ,2010 whereby resort decided to close Vihamana, their main buffet restaurant and serve the midday meal from Neptune cafe The rationale behind this incentive is that it would allow guests to select their own menu. KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has won a bid to build, operate, modernise and expand Maldives' main airport, the Male International Airport, via its GMR-MAHB consortium. In a statment here today, MAHB said it has been successfully partnering with the GMR Group since 2002, a Bangalore-based global infrastructure major with interests in airports, energy, highways and urban infrastructure. The airport operator said the Male International Airport was situated on the Huhule Island on the politically stable archipelagpo, and was one of the fastest growing airports in the region. MAHB managing director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad said the win signified an important milestone for a Malaysian firm leading with its expertise in the international market. The bid was participated by two other parties, namely the Aeroport De Paris, France-TAV, Turkey consortium, and the Zurich Airport-GVK consortium. With the project, MAHB now has four overseas airports in its portfolio, including the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Turkey. -- BERNAMA

Several flights were diverted from Male International Airport due to extreme monsoon winds experienced over the region Thursday afternoon, Airports Company revealed. Mujuthaba Latheef, a company official, told Haveeru that five planes including a domestic flight were diverted during 12.30-1.00pm. Two Indian Airlines flights arriving from Trivandrum and Bangalore, a Sri Lankan Airlines Colombo flight, and an Australian state flight from Abu Dhabi were among the diverted, he added. “We diverted the flights from India and Sri Lanka to their original departure points and the Australian flight to Diego Garcia. An Island Aviation flight arriving from Hanimaadhoo was diverted to Laam atoll Kadhdhu,” Mujuthaba said. He said that the flights were diverted considering the speed and direction of the winds which gushed at 40 miles per hour from the south to prevent cross winds against the runway.

Royal Island Resort and Spa launched several activities to entice guests to vote for the Maldives in the "New 7 Wonders of Nature" campaign. Finland was given a flavour of the Maldives during a special travel show between January 21 and 24. The Maldives Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) took part in the MATKA tourism fair in Helsinki, Finland, alongside more than 1,200 travel trade exhibitors from 73 countries. The Maldives travel display focused on promoting the Maldives' campaign to win the international "New7 Wonders of Nature" competition. Visitors could cast their votes for the Maldives at the Maldives stand. There was an impressive response, with around 100 visitors voting per day. As an extra attraction there was a prize draw with prizes provided by Carpe Diem Maldives and Conrad Maldives at Rangali Island. This year the MATKA fair saw 700 more visitors than in 2009. A survey conducted by the organisers found that more than 90 per cent of the visitors intend to travel this year as much as before, or even more, so the recession may not be dampening the wanderlust of the Finnish people. Last year the Maldives welcomed more than 655,000 visitors of which more than 8,000 visitors were from Scandinavian countries.

The 350 campaign in the Maldives kicked off with the world’s first ever underwater cabinet meeting at Girifushi today. At 10.30am, President Mohamed Nasheed and 11 cabinet ministers used hand signals and a white slate to communicate five feet deep in the lagoon before signing a declaration calling on all nations to “join hands and reduce carbon emissions and bring down the level of carbon in the atmosphere to below 350 ppm”. Current levels of carbon in the atmosphere stand at 390 ppm. The underwater cabinet was held to draw attention to the Maldives' vulnerability to climate change. In 2007, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicted that sea level rise will submerge the low-lying islands of the Maldives within a century. “If the Maldives cannot be saved today, we do not feel there is much of a chance for the rest of the world,” Nasheed told press after the meeting, floating on the lagoon. Climate change was a serious issue that needed the world's attention, the president said.

The Maldives will see the opening of the first international-class hotel for its capital city, Malé. The 117-room Holiday Inn Malé will open on 1 September 2009. As part of our efforts to make RoomAllot more faster, we have made an important change to avoid reloading the entire 'top' menu (to refresh the report values) every time a booking is confirmed, amended or canceled. The report figures will now get updated in the background, hence saving the bandwidth and time. In addition report figures (on the menu) will also get refreshed every 1 minute in the background so that these figures stay current. We hope that this new change will help all users. We have reviewed the acknowledgment process and found that the second comment area is not of necessity anymore. Hence we have now removed the second comment area. This will allow the history to store the first comment area (only existing comment from now on). This change will have no affect for the agents and will now see only a single comment area for future acknowledged bookings. For the development of the water Villas at Athuruga Island Resort, the island will be closed from the 1st of May 2009 until December 2009.

In an effort to tighten the security and add new features onto RoomAllot, we have introduced a new format for RoomAllot Booking ID which is similar to the one used by airline booking systems. The new ID has 6 characters (may increase in future) in the format ( XXXYYY ) - where XXX are 3 alphabets in 'caps' while YYY are 3 digit numbers. For the next 3 weeks, we will have the old ID and new ID placed together on the reports, booking view page and users will also be able to search using both ID's on the simple search (top menu). We are now in the process of changing the other pages and emails where the booking ID appears. We regret for any inconveniences this may cause to our users, but hope that you will adapt to this new ID soon. RoomAllot Management.

Due to the fact that more and more properties are offering room types with more than 3 adults, we have now modified the rate sheet to replace the 'Triple' rate column with an 'Extra Adult' column. We hope that all parties will adjust to this new change and help improve the flexibility of RoomAllot for the Suppliers as well as the Travel Agents. Filitheyo island Resort & Spa which is at the moment going on a major refurbishment has delayed their opening date. The new opening date will be informed as soon as its been clarified with the contractors.

We have now modified the booking amend process to finish the amendment is just one step. The new screen will first check availability (in the background) for new dates, room type (if applicable) and if the booking is in a 'confirmed' status, give the user a choice to move ahead or abort if new dates, room type is not available for one or more nights. We hope that this new change will save time in amending bookings.

The new feature allows Suppliers to 'open up' closed dates with a single click. During this process the Supplier has the option to open specific dates with the default given allocation or with a figure of their choice. Note that the system will consider room nights which are sold and held (wait-listed bookings) when opening up the dates with the default set allocation or a manually given figure.

We are pleased to add a new feature to the Supplier module, which displays a chart of 'Sold Room Nights' including the 'rooms held' for wait-listed booking. The chart can be displayed for past and future bookings with a maximum span of 13 months per page view for all or selected room types. This feature is will help the Supplier to evaluate the past and future sales and trends.

A very important feature specially for hotels located in the city has been added. It is now possible for Suppliers to allow same day check-in, check-out for room types that they allow and insert a separate (room only) rate for same day check-out (day-use) bookings. Since these bookings cannot be allowed to use the room allocation all requests for day-use rooms are booked on an on-request basis to be confirmed by the Supplier.

In an effort to give the Suppliers more control over the information kept on the RoomAllot network, we have now allowed them to upload / change the pictures from the property info. update pages.

We are pleased to bring this new feature which allows users to view the details of how payments being received (wire transfers, card payments etc) are used against the pending invoices. Previously the details were seen on the email notification sent but now users can click the payment link on the account statement and view the details of how the payment was used. This feature will particularly help the accounts staff identify from the account statement sheet how the payments, and balances are being used and feel safe even if they lose the notification email.

This is a new feature which allow the Supplier to set a maximum allocation for each room type to 'strictly' maintain / sell the exact allocation given and avoid any over-selling. The system will remove any extra inventory (more than maximum set) released during cancellation or amendment of bookings confirmed manually on 'extra' allocation. However Supplier can over-ride this rule to load (and sell) more rooms in times of forecasted low sales periods or when they have last minute rooms to sell.

The allocation update screen on the Supplier module now has a default view of 4 months at the start of the session. The User can then adjust the view span as desired and the session will save the last viewed span for the next refresh. During updates the screen will now show only months which were updated. These changes will help Users working on slow internet connections and will allow greater flexibility when viewing and updating the allocation.

We are pleased to inform all users that we have created a default page showing the links for each main menu (top menu) for all modules on RoomAllot. This will help avoid page refresh and re-login due to intermittent Internet disconnection during a page load specially for users who have to depend on 'not so reliable' ISP's. Additionally this feature can be used if you need to access using a browser client which do not support 'Java Scripting' like browsers on PDA phones etc.

To process the 'NEW' booking requests quicker for off-line properties, we are sending a copy of the new booking directly to our end supplier, where they are able to either confirm, wait-list or reject the request and send it back to our server to update the booking in real-time.

A new feature has been added to allow users to generate sales analysis graphs. The link appears under the reports menu. The line graphs can display confirmed, canceled, all bookings, no. of room nights and can be customized to generate graphs with a maximum span of 3 years. There are additional filters to select a specific property or a an agent. We are working on more such graphs which will help our partners in their marketing and sales as well.
